Depression Counselling
Depression counselling offers a confidential space to understand low mood, rebuild energy and hope, and find steadier ground — without pressure to “just think positive”.
In-person at Vita Mea Clinic in Mosta or online · We reply within 2 working days
Depression doesn’t always look like constant crying. Sometimes it’s numbness, irritability, exhaustion, or a quiet sense that nothing will get better. At Vita Mea Clinic, we offer depression counselling for people across Malta who want support that takes their experience seriously — without rushing them to feel better on someone else’s timeline.
You don’t need a formal diagnosis to reach out. Whether you’re in a deep low, coming out of one, or living with a longer pattern of low mood, therapy can help you understand what’s underneath and take steps toward a life that feels more liveable.
Sessions are available in-person at Vita Mea Clinic in Mosta and online, at a pace that respects how hard it can be to show up when energy is low.
Is this right for you?
This work may be a good fit if any of these sound familiar:
- Low mood, emptiness, or numbness has lasted longer than a rough week
- Things you used to enjoy feel flat or pointless
- Sleep, appetite, or motivation have changed noticeably
- You feel stuck, hopeless, or critical of yourself most days
- You’re functioning outwardly but feel heavy and disconnected inside
What we can help with
- Persistent low mood and sadness
- Loss of interest, motivation, or pleasure
- Hopelessness and harsh self-criticism
- Sleep and appetite changes linked to mood
- Feeling numb, flat, or emotionally shut down
- Depression after loss, burnout, or major change
- Low mood alongside anxiety or trauma
What to expect
A pace that respects your energy
We start where you are — including the days when talking feels hard. There’s no pressure to perform insight or positivity.
Making sense of the low
Together we explore what maintains the depression — thoughts, patterns, losses, stress — so it feels less like a mysterious weight and more like something you can work with.
Small steps that add up
You’ll build practical ways to reclaim energy, connection, and self-compassion — step by step, not overnight.
Our approach
We draw on person-centred therapy, CBT, and other evidence-based approaches tailored to you. Where trauma or grief sits underneath low mood, we can integrate that carefully.
If you’re in crisis or need medical support alongside therapy, we’ll be honest about that and help you think through next steps with your GP or appropriate services.
Not sure where to start?
Tell us a little about what you're looking for — we'll help match you with the right support. No pressure, no commitment.
What you can gain
- A clearer understanding of your low mood
- More self-compassion and less harsh self-talk
- Practical tools for heavy days
- Gradual return of energy, interest, and hope
- A sense that you’re not facing this alone
Frequently asked questions
Is this the same as seeing a psychiatrist?
No. We’re a therapy and counselling clinic. We don’t prescribe medication. Some people combine counselling with support from their doctor; others prefer therapy alone. We’ll work with whichever path fits you.
What if I can barely get out of bed?
That’s okay to name. We can start gently — including online sessions if leaving home feels impossible — and build from there.
How is this different from your individual therapy page?
Individual therapy covers many concerns. This page is specifically for people searching for depression and low-mood support, with content and FAQs focused on that experience.
Ready to take the first step?
Taking the first step towards therapy can feel daunting, but you don't have to do it alone. Reach out today and let us support you on your journey.
