Frequently Asked Questions
Fees, booking, confidentiality, and what to expect — answered plainly.
Vita Mea Clinic is a psychology and counselling clinic in Żokrija, Mosta. We see adults, couples, families, and young people from across Malta, in person at the clinic. If you are unsure where to start, get in touch and we will help you find the right practitioner.
We offer individual therapy, couples therapy, family therapy, child and adolescent therapy, and psychological assessments. Our practitioners draw on approaches such as EMDR, DBT, Gestalt, systemic, and person-centred therapy — matched to your needs rather than a single method.
Fees vary by practitioner and by the type of session — for example individual, couples, family, or an assessment. We confirm the fee with you before you book, so there are no surprises. Contact us and we will explain the current rates for the support you need.
No. You can contact us directly. A referral or diagnosis is not required to begin counselling or therapy at Vita Mea. If you already have a letter from your doctor, you are welcome to share it — it is never a condition of booking.
Some private medical policies reimburse part of talking therapy. Cover depends on your insurer and your plan. We can provide a receipt after your session if you wish to claim. We recommend checking with your insurer before you start.
You can enquire through the contact form, call us on +356 9985 4942, or come into the clinic in Mosta during opening hours and we will help you arrange a session. We aim to reply to every enquiry within 2 working days.
Your first session is a getting-to-know-you meeting. Your therapist will ask about what brings you in, a little of your background, and what you hope will change. There is no pressure to share more than you are ready for — and it is also your chance to see whether the fit feels right.
A standard individual session lasts 50 minutes. Couples and family sessions typically run for 75–90 minutes. Your therapist will agree the most appropriate length with you at the start.
It depends on what you are working on. Some people benefit from short-term therapy (about 6–12 sessions); others prefer longer-term support. You and your therapist will review this together as you go — you are never locked into a set number.
Yes. Sessions are private and guided by professional ethics and data-protection standards. Information is only shared with your explicit consent, except in rare circumstances where there is a serious risk of harm. Those limits will be explained clearly at the start.
We prefer to work in person at the clinic in Mosta. Where attending is genuinely difficult — travel, illness, or a period away from Malta — we can arrange secure online sessions so your therapy continues. Your therapist will agree this with you.
Yes. We have practitioners who work with children and adolescents, using age-appropriate approaches, and we involve parents or guardians when that supports the young person. We also run Mind Gym programmes for tweens and teens.
